Opening Scripture
“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments.” — Deuteronomy 7:9
Life often moves so quickly that we forget to pause and remember how faithfully God has carried us through every season. Today’s Daily Devotion for July 21 invites us to reflect on Remembering God’s Faithfulness and to recognize His hand at work in both the extraordinary and the ordinary moments of life.
When we intentionally look back on God’s goodness, our confidence for the future grows stronger. The same Lord who provided yesterday’s strength, answered yesterday’s prayers, and sustained yesterday’s burdens will remain faithful today and forever. As you read this devotion, allow your heart to be refreshed by the countless reminders that God’s promises never fail.

Many people keep photo albums or journals to preserve life’s most precious memories. Looking through them often brings forgotten moments back to life—family celebrations, answered prayers, difficult seasons that eventually gave way to joy, and unexpected blessings that once seemed impossible. What felt overwhelming at the time now serves as a testimony of God’s faithfulness.
Our spiritual journey is much the same. During trials, we sometimes wonder whether God sees our struggles or hears our prayers. Yet when we pause and reflect, we begin to notice how He quietly guided us, opened doors at the right time, provided exactly what we needed, and carried us through circumstances we never thought we could overcome.
Remembering God’s faithfulness transforms our perspective. Instead of dwelling on today’s uncertainty, we gain fresh confidence because the God who has never failed us in the past will certainly remain faithful in the days ahead.
Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly called His people to remember His mighty works. After crossing the Jordan River, Joshua instructed the Israelites to set up twelve stones as a memorial so future generations would remember how God miraculously brought them into the Promised Land (Joshua 4). Those stones were more than historical markers—they were visible reminders that God’s faithfulness deserves to be remembered and celebrated.
Likewise, Moses continually reminded Israel not to forget the Lord after they entered a land of abundance. Prosperity often tempts people to become self-reliant, while hardship can tempt them to question God’s goodness. In both circumstances, remembering God’s faithfulness protects our hearts. It reminds us that every blessing comes from His hand and every trial is under His sovereign care.
The greatest evidence of God’s faithfulness is found in Jesus Christ. God’s promise of redemption, spoken throughout the Old Testament, was fulfilled perfectly through His Son. Christ’s death and resurrection assure us that God’s Word never fails. If He faithfully accomplished His greatest promise through Jesus, we can trust Him with every promise He has made concerning our daily lives.
Perhaps today you are waiting for an answer to prayer, seeking direction, or enduring a season of uncertainty. Do not let present circumstances erase the evidence of God’s past faithfulness. Instead, intentionally recall the prayers He has already answered, the doors He has already opened, and the grace He has already supplied. Every memory of His goodness becomes fuel for greater faith. When we remember what God has done, we find renewed confidence in what He will continue to do.
Today, make remembering God’s faithfulness a daily spiritual discipline. Begin by writing down three specific ways God has been faithful to you over the past year. Thank Him for each one in prayer, even if the journey was difficult. Whenever fear or discouragement arises, revisit that list and allow those testimonies to strengthen your faith.
You can also encourage others by sharing one story of God’s faithfulness with a family member or friend. Your testimony may become the encouragement someone else desperately needs. As gratitude fills your heart, you will find it easier to trust God with today’s challenges, knowing His character never changes.
Prayer for Today
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing faithfulness throughout every season of my life. When I look back, I see countless moments where You protected me, provided for me, strengthened me, and answered prayers in ways I could never have imagined. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear or doubt to overshadow the evidence of Your goodness.
Help me to remember Your faithfulness whenever I face uncertainty. Teach me to trust Your timing, rely on Your promises, and rest confidently in Your love. Strengthen my faith so that I may walk each day with gratitude rather than anxiety, hope rather than fear, and confidence rather than discouragement.
May my life become a testimony that points others to Your goodness and glory. Thank You for never leaving me nor forsaking me. I place today and my future into Your faithful hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
